John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He of who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day John saw Jesus was coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, He was before me. (John:1:26-30) In these verses the Pharisees are questioning John the Baptist, saying, Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet? We know by reading these verses, John baptized with water, he even baptist Jesus in the Jordan river and many more people,
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him."Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him. Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old?" Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:1-5) You may ask Jesus to come into your heart, first repent of your sins, that He may enter into your soul. And His Spirit will reside in you, when you accept Him as your personal Savior.
